Synopsis:
When she returns to work at a psychiatric hospital in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro after serving her prison sentence, Dr. Nise da Silveira (Gloria Pires) proposes a new form of treatment for patients suffering from schizophrenia, without the use of electroshock therapy or lobotomy. Her colleagues disagree with her treatment method and isolate her, forcing her to take over the abandoned occupational therapy department, where she introduces a new way of treating patients through love and art and madness.
