Marcello Macario is a psychiatrist who has worked in Community Mental Health Centers of the Italian NHS from 1987 to 2025. He was one of the founders of the Italian Hearing Voices Network (www.intervoiceitalia.it) and is very much involved in introducing the Open Dialogue approach in the public services, especially for young people. He’s also a member of the Internation Insititute for Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal.
Marcello is now collaborating as a volunteer with an NGO (Association “ARCI Noi per Voi”) which runs a “space” for young people (from 16 years old) in a rural area in partnership with the Community Mental Health Center, the social services, the schools of the area and a couple of youth associations which are very active in the field of culture, music, and international exchanges.
