Vegard Høgli has more than 40 years of experience in various public health positions, including as a county medical officer, Head of section for Service Development and Coordination at a regional health authority, co-founder of a foundation for quality improvement in social and health services, and chief medical officer for a major city in South-Eastern Norway. He has served on the board of the Norwegian Society of Public Health physicians and the Telemark Medical Association.
He has been concerned about the high and rising incidence of social exclusion and suffering due to mental health challenges, and has sought approaches that better help people live their lives in accordance with their preferences
In his work as a municipal chief medical officer, he has promoted perspectives such as Open Dialogue in network meetings and the Power-Threat-Meaning framework into collaborative forums between the municipality, the Labor and Welfare Administration, and the hospital through conferences and meetings. He has been a member of the Mad in Norway editorial board since its inception in 2019.
