Tore Ødegård is a psychiatric nurse. Since the fall of 2016, he has been employed as a professional mental health developer at The Medication Free Treatment Unit (now renamed The Recovery Unit) at the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) in Tromsø and has been part of the management team at the unit. He is engaged in the development of locally based, network-oriented and person-centered mental health services and that these should be based on humanistic and recovery-oriented values. Central to this is the importance of real choices and treatment that also provides support for the tapering off of psychotropic drugs. He is also part of the editorial team of the online magazine Mad in Norway.
